You see the stunning photos of the perfectly made up bride and her bridesmaids posing along the beaches of the Riviera Maya.  It is an alluring fantasy that brought you to this point and we would like to give you the behind the scenes tips on what will perfect your hair and makeup look for your destination wedding photographs in Mexico.

The idea of long flowing locks is very romantic but is it practical?  We are here to say….no.

Unless you are from a climate like the Mexican Caribbean, you will be entering a different set of rules for your hair.  Humidity, salt, and wind all play into what your hair may or may not do the day of your wedding.  A trial is very much recommended to see what works best for your hair. Extensions are a great idea too for getting a fuller look and will often help the style to stay longer.

We recommend for long duration a updo.  Updos can be romantic and flowing without all of your hair down.  A few tendrils can be loose around your neck but around your face will often blow around and you do not want hair in your face during your photography session.

Alright, we understand you may have your heart set on long locks down your back.  This is your wedding and we are just here to suggest.  At least a partial updo with the sides up will keep your locks from flying all around in the beach breezes. Also, keep in mind for your bridesmaids that they have partial or full updos so that their hair does not blow into the face most of the time

It is very important to find a stylist who is familiar with the area’s climate.  Humidity can make your hair do a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde act.  An experienced master stylist will know how different hair acts and what styles are best.  Natural curly hair will get curlier but naturally straight hair will not hold curls without the correct products.  Products and their quality are very important and cannot be overlooked.

We do recommend that you hire a master stylist for your day to reduce the stress and to add to the magic of pampering for your special occasion here in the Mayan Riviera.  This will ensure the duration of your style and the expertise to know what will work best for your hair.  However, if you have experienced girls or have a hairstylist who is coming with you make sure that they take into consideration the tropical climate and they bring much more hairspray and bobby pins than they would normally use.

These tips can make just go with the flow easily   without being worry about  photos with hair across the face or hands pulling hair out of your face .  Photoshopping hair in wedding photos is can de difficult  because it is very time consuming and very detailed work.  These simple pre-wedding tips can ensure that you get the best photos with the least amount of work.
